Lions de Batailley is produced from a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, a grape varietal which grows well on Batailley's gravel soil. Balanced, silky tannins with acidity and length. It is a wine that drinks easily young, but will also age well.

A light dash of vanilla leads off here, followed quickly by pure cassis and cherry fruit flavors. Reveals a sleek graphite edge on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2027.

The 2017 Lions de Batailley has a pretty bouquet with blackberry, mint and cedar aromas that demand some coaxing from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins. Very smooth thanks to that sheen of vanillary new oak that should subsume with time. This could turn out quite seductive.
